Directorate-General for Personnel
The Directorate-General for Personnel helps ensure that Parliament’s other directorates-general have the human resources necessary to carry out their work.
Its main tasks are:
- managing Parliament’s human resources, i.e. the officials and political groupand other staff, in accordance with the regulations applicable to officials and other staff of the European Communities;
- developing political strategies to improve women’s working conditions and promoting equal opportunities for each employee;
- successfully running Parliament’s staff policy by keeping it under review and improving it if necessary, while meeting the challenge of the enlargement of the European Union;
- giving staff access to vocational training (language training, training in management technique, IT training, etc.).

Ellen ROBSON

Ellen Robson took up her duties as Director-General for Personnel on 1 June 2024.
She was Director for Legislative Acts in DG Presidency from 2014 until 31 May 2024. She has also been a member of the advisory committee dealing with harassment complaints concerning Members, and has chaired and vice-chaired joint committees dealing with staff issues.
Ellen Robson started her career in the institutions as a lawyer-linguist at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, before joining Parliament in 2004, in the same functions, with DG PRES’s Tabling Office. She moved up to become a coordinator in the Verification Unit in 2006 and became head of the Legislative Quality Unit in 2008, before her appointment as a Director.
She holds a law degree from Oxford University, and a postgraduate diploma in translation from the London Institute of Linguists.
