Legal service

Legal Service has a leading role in a Union primarily based on democracy, the rule of law and respect for fundamental rights. It advises Parliament on legal questions and represents it in legal cases.

Its main tasks are:

providing legal assistance for Parliament's political bodies (the President, the Bureau, the Conference of Presidents, the Conference of Committee Chairmen, the Conference of Delegation Chairmen, the College of Quaestors and the committees) and for its Secretariat;
helping the committees with their legislative work;
representing the European Parliament in European and national courts.
